Our graduates

Daria Gumpylova

Gumpylova Daria graduated from the Department of International Relations (Faculty of Historical and Political Studies) in 2017 (Major : Foreign Regional Studies: Asian-Pacific Area). She was specialized in Japan studies and Japanese language. Her Bachelor thesis was about how Japan and the Japanese were perceived in Russia in 18th century – early 20th century.

She entered the MA Program in Migration Studies in 2017, and defended her thesis “Social and cultural aspect of migration in Japan in 20-21 centuries”. In 2018-2019, Daria participated in the exchange students program at Tokyo Metropolitan University.

Plans for future: employment with the possibility of combining both majors.

Diana Bryazgina

Diana graduated from Irkutsk State University (ISU) in 2017. She obtained a f bachelor's degree in "Political Science" with honours. After graduation she entered the Tomsk State University to study the Migration Studies” program and earned a Master's degree with honors in 2019.

Nowadays, she is a member of the Laboratory of Political and Historical Demography of the Irkutsk State University and the Laboratory for Social and Anthropological Research at TSU. Diana participates in various research projects in the field of migration studies. She is also planning to enter postgraduate studies.

Master thesis topic: "Ethnic" markets in the social space of the city (Case-study: Irkutsk)

Elena Kosheleva

Graduated from Tomsk State University with a degree in History in 1999, and defended her PhD thesis “Ethnic movements of indigenous peoples of the North at the turn of the 20th and 21st centuries (West Siberian region)” in the 07.00.07 specialty in 2003. Graduated from Tomsk State Pedagogical University in 2008 with a degree in Translation and Translation Studies. Elena studied in Tomsk State University on the Master program "Migration Studies" in 2017-2019.

Currently she is an Associate Professor at the Department of Anthropology and Ethnology at the Faculty of Historical and Political Sciences of TSU. Participates in the implementation of various research projects in the migration studies field.

Mikhail Karpov

Mikhail entered the “Migration studies” program after earning a BA degree in History from Tomsk State University in 2017. He obtained Master's degree with honors in 2019.

After the graduation, Mikhail intends to continue his research in the field of migration studies. He plans to enter postgraduate school.
